Acharya Kedar received Shaktipat (spiritual awakening) and initiation into the Siddha Path to Total Freedom from Sri Jagadguru Swami Muktananda Paramahamsa, and then took the name, Kedar, the name that Muktananda gave him. Before leaving his body, Muktananda then instructed Acharya Kedar to take his own Guru, Bhagawan Nityananda of Ganeshpuri as his Guru and to meditate on and follow the inner guidance of Bhagawan Nityananda.
